In keeping with our
observation in today's new issue that NYC bikes "want to be treated as legitimate transportation," I'm happy to report that cyclists may now park along with other legitimate forms of transportation at many parking lots throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn, following the adoption of the Bicycle Access to Garages
law. Streetsblog
reports that one of the city's biggest parking lot operators, Edison ParkFast, now provides super-cheap bike parking at all their locations. Their rates—$1 for a day, $20 for a month—are still like $800 cheaper than a one-month
Metrocard, and the lots are probably a shade
more secure than on-the-street bike parking. Next step: dedicated bike garages. Please?
