News Argh: Algonquin Hotel to Become Marriott

When you're happy and you know it, clap your hands to the side of your face.

Oh dear. The Algonquin Hotel is becoming one of hotel empire Marriott's "Autograph Collection." The good news is that the Algonquin already has landmark status, so they can't fuck with it too much (though I hear they're going to be replacing all the round tables with square ones). The bad news is that the ghost of Dorothy Parker will now be moving to the old Howard Johnson's in Times Square... oh, wait.

Ghost of Robert Benchley: "Hey Dorothy, use Marriott in a sentence..."

Ghost of Dorothy Parker: "You can lead a whore to culture, but then you'll have to Marriott."
