The NY Observer
sent media mogul, insider trader and celebrity lifestyle guru Martha Stewart to review
MoMA's new kitchen design exhibition, Counter Space: Design and the Modern Kitchen
(through March 14), and save a few awkward phrases, she does very well. Stewart's not a fan of the exhibition's central showpiece, Margarete Schutte-Lihotzky's "Frankfurt Kitchen" (1926-1927):
A design icon, perhaps, but I found it to be a severe one. It reminded me so much of one of the few kitchens I have owned that was of no interest to me whatsoever—the Gordon Bunshaft kitchen in his own house on Georgica Pond in East Hampton.
Oh, snap! Take that, Gordon Bunshaft (RIP)! Seriously, though, it's the best piece of celebrity art criticism that a New York daily has published in a long time—sorry, James Franco
