Brooklyn Artists Beautify Shabby Smith-9th Street Station

Brooklyn-based artists Kate Gavriel and Katie Shelly took it upon themselves to beautify one of the borough's most blighted subway stops, the lowly F and G Smith-9th Street station in GowCarrHook-land. Their coiling purple slinky-like sculpture has probably already disappeared since it was photographed this morning. Get a closer look at their unofficial subway art after the jump.
