Off Broadway's 45 Bleecker Closes Abruptly (Updated!)

Posted by on Thu, Oct 14, 2010 at 4:35 PM

45 Bleecker Theatre
45 Bleecker (pictured), a two-room theater near the corner of Bleecker and Lafayette currently hosting three ongoing series and two full-fledged new productions including one we just reviewed (The Deep Throat Sex Scandal) closed its doors today, leaving just this cryptic message on their website: "Theatre is temporarily closed. Like many New Yorkers, we are in dispute with our Landlord. Due to litigation we have no comment at this time. Further information will be posted as it becomes available." Fuckin' landlords, man...

Update: Because of the theater's closing The Deep Throat Sex Scandal has announced the end of its run, which opened on Sunday and was scheduled to continue through December. Deets after the jump.

Per an email just received from The Deep Throat Sex Scandal's press reps, the production's run is over: "The Deep Throat Sex Scandal, a new play by David Bertolino, directed by Jerry Douglas, has been forced to close at 45 Bleecker Street Theatre (just east of Lafayette Street), because of what appears to be a landlord-tenant dispute between the theater operators and the building owners." News of other productions implicated to follow, presumably.
