Best place to people watch?
At the corner of Metropolitan & Havemeyer where Commodore, Knitting Factory and restaurants/bodegas meet.
Best place to drink?
On the stoops of a nice nooky street.
Supercore has cozy atmosphere and warm home-style Japanese food. Delicious Sake to top with.
Best grocery store/farmer's market?
Mitsuwa, the biggest Japanese grocery store on the Jersey side right across from the GW Bridge. And the María Hernández Farmer's Market—very first Farmer's Market in Bushwick maybe? It's starting to bop.
Mariko Nips' basement with tea time.
Best outdoor spot?
Emi Nips' backyard in the summer. Comes in luxurious size of Bushwick.
Best coffee shop?
Hope Deli. You'd never guess but they seriously have the best coffee! Owners are super nice too.
Best subway line?
We LOVE the M with the new route. Lines up the city, our homes, and our practice space in one line.
Best date spot?
Manhattan Inn. A little music, a little vibe.
Best person whose name you don't know?
Nice guy with big sideburns at Main Drag. Even nice to non-technical amateurs.
Which are there more of: dogs, bodega cats, strollers, American Apparel ads, or old men on stoops?
Bodega cats and their kittens and their grand-kittens.
What's missing from your neighborhood?
We definitely need a Japanese grocery store or we'll go hungry. And we definitely need a 24hr liquor store 'cause we go broke and thirsty at 3am.
What's been the biggest change since you've moved in?
We never expected corporate franchise to move here. We don't even want to mention their names.
It's a Saturday night in October. You don't feel like traveling very far but are antsy for a night out. Where do you go?
Depends on what you call far but if you're in Bushwick, Tandem Bar will treat you well on a chilly night. Really good DJ some nights!
