Alert the 2012 Grammy voters, Coldplay is releasing a concept album. There was already
talk from their camp about how their fifth full-length might be their "last big shot" and how they were really "going for it" this time, which I just assumed meant they were going to sing a song confirming that, yes, the sky is indeed blue. But boy they've really upped the ante now, with Chris Martin telling
BBC News that their 2011 release, again produced by Brian Eno and Marcus Dravs, is "from the point of view of two people who are a bit lost. Two like-minded outsiders who meet in a very difficult environment and therefore have a journey together." Ohhh... a journey. "It's a concept album, but it's supposed to be very personal within a big framework. Does that make sense?" Kinda. Does that mean it's about Gwyneth and Apple? If Coldplay put out a concept album about Gwyneth and Apple, I'd probably download it legally.
