While NYC Was Being Buried by Snow, I Was Discovering My New Favorite Internet Radio Station, Called 8tracks.

Right now, I am listening to Sum 41, and I kinda like it. "In Too Deep" is nestled between "Somebody's Baby" by Phantom Planet and "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" by Joe Jackson so perfectly that it could only be on a mix titled "When Life's Like a High School Movie...", just one of the many gems on 8tracks.com. I may be a little late to the game on this, but the site offers all sorts of oddly wonderful pairings by streaming themed mixes handcrafted by people like you, me and quasi-famous teenage fashion bloggers. Now comes Goldfinger's cover of "99 Red Balloons." I am 16, riding shotgun in my friend Lynn's tan Corsica. Awesome.

It's not all high school nostalgia gone wrong right either. The site's users have served up a pretty great collection of "Best of 2010" playlists (this one features the oft-overlooked Bowerbirds and Freelance Whales, while this one boasts Clinic, Born Ruffians and Joanna Newsom) and above-par sad, contemplative mixes that are the bread and butter of the mixed tape/CD/MP3/whatever culture. To be honest, I have yet to run into a playlist that I didn't like, which is weird, not to mention mathematically improbable, but these people tend to have really good taste, and it finally forced me to listen to a song by that Marina & the Diamonds band that I've been meaning to get to forever. 2011: The Year I'm Productive!

In an unproductive turn, after the jump is a video of Goldfinger playing "99 Red Balloons" 'cause you know you wanna (be sure to watch them exit the stage after the song):
