The Walkmen Visit Sun Studio, Discuss Roy Orbison, Perform "Canadian Girl"

It seems that all the way back in May of 2009, The Walkmen paid a visit to the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, where they recorded a version of their ridiculously good "Canadian Girl." And if that weren't enough, they're joined on trumpet by Ben Cauley, a founding member of Stax Records house-band The Bar-Kays, and the only survivor of the 1967 plane crash that killed Otis Redding and four other members of the band. Word has it Cauley and the other horn players here responded to a classified ad and showed up a half-hour before the the recording was set to start. Anyway, more than a year and a half later, the a 30-minute version of the taping is airing on PBS through January, as part of their Sun Studio Sessions series, but only in select markets. New York, sadly, does not appear to be one of them.
