Seeing
Abbey Road at the top of Nielsen SoundScan's highest selling vinyl records for the second year in a row shouldn't come as too much of a surprise considering The Beatles' cross-generational appeal to the quote-unquote indie kids and the baby boomers, two contingents which seem to be buying more vinyl than anyone these days. Behold: Arcade Fire's
The Suburbs, The Black Key's
Brothers and Vampire Weekend's
Contra round out the top four; The National's
High Violet and Beach House's
Teen Dream find themselves at number six and seven, respectively, while The xx's 2009 debut takes the number 10 spot. As for the classics, we've got
Thriller at number five,
Valleys of Neptune at number eight, and
Dark Side of the Moon at number nine. Nothing to be ashamed of here, music-buying community of 2010.
