Finally, we can put an end to all the
antsy speculation and making of fake flyers:
Coachella announced the official lineup for this year's festival this morning, and it's basically what everyone thought it would be. Friday's the worst day by a landslide, even despite having the most big names, with alt-rock boneheads
Kings of Leon headlining a bill that also includes the overrated, actually quite boring
Black Keys, the well past their prime
Chemical Brothers and
Interpol, plus
Robyn,
Brandon Flowers, and, oh god,
Ms. Lauryn Hill, who will probably not show up. Saturday's the main draw for L Mag types, with sets by
Bright Eyes and
Mumford & Sons, plus back to back sets by
Arcade Fire and
Animal Collective, a situation that will likely cause Lauren Beck to faint right there in the mud or dust or whatever they have out there. And then on the final day, Sunday, you've got
Kanye and
The Strokes, who we can only hope will collaborate in some way.
Duran Duran's also way up there on the bill, because nostalgia and irony continue to thrive, even in the desert.
