The LES Building on Paul's Boutique Catches Fire

According to local news outlet DNAinfo, a fire broke out on the corner of Ludlow and Rivington just after 8pm last night, engulfing the building that the Beastie Boys made famous on the cover of their 1989 album Paul's Boutique — currently home to falafel restaurant The Three Monkeys at 99 Rivington. Consequence of Sound points out that the seven-block area photographed in panoramic form on the Beasties' inside packaging, was also the block that Lou Reed first recorded "All Tomorrow's Parties" while living at 56 Ludlow. The degree of damage to the building is unknown, though no injuries were reported. Image of last night after the jump:
