If Yo La Tengo Says They're Gonna Act Out an Entire Episode of a Sitcom, They Really Are Gonna Act Out an Entire Episode of a Sitcom

At Chicago's Metro club this past Friday, Yo La Tengo started out their scheduled performance by acting out the entire "Chinese Restaurant" episode of Seinfeld. The strange turn of events took place when, as part of a crowd participation stunt where one audience member spins a wheel, randomly choosing from a number of possible themes for the show. After landing on "Spinner's Choice" and earning the chance to choose the theme at will, the spinner went with Sitcom Theater. As you'll see in the video, the band stood at the front of the stage, scripts in hand, and read through the whole fucking thing. This would be far easier to complain about if they didn't then proceed to play a full 16-song set, which we can only assume was awesome. [Spinner]
