Art Behind the Scenes: Brooklyn Museum's Cloth-Wrapped Pod Columns Coming Along

Back in December we saw a prototype of Situ Studio's forthcoming architectural installation in the Brooklyn Museum's newly renovated Great Hall, reOrder (opens March 4), and yesterday after a preview of the excellent new Tipi exhibition (on which more soon) I dallied long enough to snap a few progress shots of the Situ installation.
Basically, if classical architecture could spin hoola-hoops, it would look like what Situ Studio is currently doing to the grand, glass-ceilinged McKim, Mead & White space. By next months the metal rings will be outfitted with skirts of white fabric so that they look like giant lampshades or whirling dervishes. One of the columns, pictured below, already had its dressing yesterday.
