Announcing the 2011 Northside DIY Film Competition

Posted By on Tue, Mar 1, 2011 at 11:01 AM

In case you missed it, the dates for the 2011 Northside Festival have been announced, and we are currently planning, prepping and booking the music, art and ideas components that will be taking over Williamsburg and Greenpoint this summer, June 16-19. That said, we are very pleased to announce a new component of Northside: The Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Film Competition!

Northside Film has two components. There is the curated series of feature films screened for badge holders and ticket buyers at Williamsburg's indieScreen (last year's lineup featured James Franco, Todd Solondz, Michael Fassbender, ballet and more), and, new for 2011, there is a DIY shorts and features competition. With this year's DIY competition, we hope to bring developing short and feature filmmakers together under one roof. The finalists' works will be screened at UnionDocs in Williamsburg before a jury of DIY pioneers, Brooklyn celebrities and established directors. Prizes includes cash, an exclusive Northside Rooftop Screening, and camera rental packages.

The submission form is available here, where you can also view a list of requirements and guidelines. We will be taking submissions up until April 30, 2011. Tell your friends, take a camera, and get shooting. We want to see what life looks like to you.
