Marty Markowitz Is Now On Twitter, Which, Shockingly, Means He Wasn't On Twitter Before

[Post has been updated; see below.] Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz has joined Twitter, the Post observed late last week (without specifying his handle or linking to his account. He's just @MartyMarkowitz).

As you might expect, the feed thus far includes posts timestamped within regular banking hours, and real-time smartphone twitpics of Marty himself; his office has not responded to a request for comment on how Twitter's 140-character limit might affect his signature rhetorical style, but his first Tweet certainly did include the word "Fuhgeddaboudit," so, you know.

[UPDATE, 3:28pm:] Not 10 minutes after this post went live, the Boro President's director of communications replied to our request for comment thusly: "I think that Twitter is a great medium for Marty’s quick wit. Marty letting a character limit get in the way of a good joke? Fuhgeddaboudit!" (A reply, he pointed out, exactly 140 characters long.)]
