Stephen Malkmus Doesn't Want to Move to Park Slope

NO! I DONT WANNA!

When Spin interviewed Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus over the phone about his upcoming Beck-produced album, Mirror Traffic, Malkmus was looking after his two daughters, 4 and 7 years-old, while they were watching Dora the Explorer. As a result, it's probably one of the most adorable interviews you'll read, if just for the few interruptions of Malkmus-Being-A-Dad ("Stay on the center of the trampoline!") as he tried to explain the Jicks' new lineup, the album's influences and all that other boring, grown-up indie rock stuff.

Malkmus also told Spin that he'll be moving the family to Berlin for a year and is consciously trying to stay away from Park Slope. This is what he had to say about it:

"We will apparently be living in the Park Slope of Berlin. But I don't want to live in the Park Slope of Park Slope, really, though it's where you end up living if you have kids. I'm not saying it's bad there, but you just kind of feel like a mark." [via Spin]

Can't blame him for not wanting to be lured into the complacency of organics and child-rearing, but come on—it would be neat to have him around.
