In Light of Their Recently Announced Tour, Watch Girls Play a New Song Live

Today the Internet has revealed that Girls, San Francisco's damaged Elvis Costello-voiced band whose frontman spent part of his childhood raised within a cult, will be heading out on tour this fall in support of their second LP, Father, Son, Holy Ghost, slated for release on September 13 via True Panther. New York will get two shows at Bowery Ballroom on September 22 and 23, which is fine and good, but it looks like the band has a hole in their schedule on the 21st after they play Philly, so here's hoping for a Brooklyn date too, especially considering the song — the lead track form the new album — in the video above. After a quick YouTube survey of songs titled "Honey Bunny," trust me when I say this is one of the best, most heartbreaking there is, and the only one that sounds like it could be an ode to a mother who raised a child within a cult. The more times you watch it, the sadder Christopher Owens sounds.
