On July 24 the North Brooklyn Public Art Coalition (nbArt) will inaugurate Brooklyn-based sound artist Nick Yulman's (pictured) new public project, No Bills, at locations in Greenpoint and Williamsburg. With initial locations in McCarren Park, Triangle Court and on North 6th Street, the public sound installation will feature oral histories from neighborhood residents.

The initial locations will be the corner of Lorimer and Bayard streets in McCarren Park near the pool, tiny Triangle Court at the intersection of Grand Street, Keap Street and Borinquen Place, and Ventana244, the non-profit art space on North 6th Street between Havemeyer and Roebling. On opening day, July 24, Yulman will lead tours of the No Bills locations starting at 1:30pm and 2:30pm from the McCarren Park location.

But, if only three spots at which to listen to the StoryCorps alum sound artist's oral histories seems scant, that's because there's a Kickstarter campaign afoot to add more listening spots and recordings around the neighborhood. That campaign (which has 48 days and $1,725 to go) is accompanied by this trailer for the No Bills project, which'll give you some idea of the types of folks whose stories you'll be hearing on the street later this month—including Leonora Russo, aka the Queen of Williamsburg.
