After the success of its inaugural one-week book sale extravaganza last summer, West 19th Street mega-gallery David Zwirner opens its second Annual Pop-Up Bookstore today, with lots of signed books, rare posters and limited edition goodies from its stellar stable of artists.
The Summer Pop-Up Bookstore takes over DZ's 533 West 19th Street space (next-door to its deep summer group show, The House Without a Door), opening today (in just under 15 minutes, in fact) and continuing through August 5. Its hours will correspond to the gallery's summer hours (Monday-Friday 10am-6pm), except on Thursday of this week when the gallery stays open late for the big Chelsea Art Walk.
In addition to artists' monographs from the gallery's huge stable of artists (including Stan Douglas, Marlene Dumas, Dan Flavin Luc Tuymans, and Lisa Yuskavage), there will be deals on signed limited edition and out-of-print books, exhibition posters, DVDs of documentaries on gallery artists like Alice Neel and R. Crumb, and ceramic plates by Marcel Dzama. So if you need to fill out your art book library (or your art plate cupboard), don't miss this chance—and visit sooner rather than later, as the good items tend to go very, very quickly.
