Hey, check this out: It's another installment of The L Mag Presents, our new music video series, and this time it's with Philadelphia's The War on Drugs.

Frontman Adam Granduciel, multi-instrumentalists Dave Hartley, Robbie Bennett and drummer Steven Urgo stopped by The L Mag office last week to play a couple of tracks off their gorgeous, elaborately layered new album, Slave Ambient, which drops tomorrow. Among other things, we chatted with the band about how this album came to be, what with the Drugs having to sell a gift theremin to pay for some of it, as well as the fact that it took four years to record. That's what happens when you have bandmembers working and touring with a number of other music projects—like Granduciel with his old friend, Kurt Vile, and Dave Hartley's band, Nightlands. The Drugs are fairly fresh off a two month long tour with Destroyer earlier this year, but now they're touring again this fall, this time as headliners with opening act Caveman. If you like what you see, the band will be playing two nights in New York next week—Aug. 19 at Cameo Gallery and Aug. 20 at Mercury Lounge.

Enjoy the talent, the tales and the good vibes. Watch The War on Drugs play "Best Night" (first video, after the interview) and "Brothers" in the L Mag office after the jump. (Oh, and watch in 1080p, because you can.)
