Though we made gentle fun of the Timeshare BackyardThe Participation Agency's by-the-hour rental lot of picket fence-bordered suburban backyard grass at 145 Ludlow Street on the Lower East Side—we're now eating our words as the formerly blighted expanse unveils a small but stellar show of street art, Grassy Lot Show, opening tonight from 6-8pm.

Curated by Crest Arts (of Williamsburg's Crest Hardware and its annual Crest Hardware Art Show), Brooklyn Street Art and Keith Schweitzer's M.a.N.Y. (of the Coney Island murals and those pop-up shows in Midtown and on the Upper West Side), the 15 artists have been putting up pieces all week on walls facing the newly green lot and on adjacent construction fencing. Participants include: Creepy, Gaia, Over Under, QRST, Quel Beast, Veng, and many more. Check out video of the artists putting up their pieces below, and in the photos here. See the show tonight for free between 6-8pm, after which time you'll only be able to catch glimpses of the art over the fence while backyard tenants frolic with super-soakers and slip-and-slides—or by renting it yourself.
