Bushwick City Farm Adding Third Field of Crops

One of our favorite DIY projects in the borough is expanding fast, which is all the more impressive given that they receive no city funding, are volunteer-staffed and give all their goods (and much more) away for free. Bushwick City Farm, led by founder Masha Radzinsky, has its eye on the above lot at Stockton Street and Lewis Avenue, which it's already cleaned up and, thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that's recently reached its goal, may be bringing topsoil and fruit trees to the former eyesore.

Along with BCF's first reclaimed urban farming lot a couple blocks away at 897 Broadway, and its recently added Stagg Street farm, this would be the rapidly growing agricultural project's third farm. Like the others, it will rely on volunteers, who will receive the fruits of their labor for free. Community members can also benefit from the farm's harvests, along with giveaways of donated food and clothes, and ESL classes. But don't take my word for it...
