CANT-Dreams Come True (Terrible Records): The blond guy from Grizzly Bear gets together with the guy from Twin Shadow to make spectral space jams that sound so-totally-Brooklyn; sometimes sweet and touching, sometimes seriously 'effed up.
Cymbals Eat Guitars - Lenses Alien (Barsuk): Occasionally the sincerity dips into emo territory, but, even then, it feels good to hear a band sound so willing to take on the weight of the world.
Das Racist - Relax (Greedhead)
Gross Relations - Come Clean (Raven Sings the Blues)
Mates of State - Mountaintops (Barsuk): They technically live in Stratford, Connecticut, but close enough; we've been nursing a soft spot for their organ-drum capital-"P" Pop for over 10 years now and can't imagine this will put a stop to it.
Milagres - Glowing Mouth (Kill Rock Stars): Local band signs to Kill Rock Stars and turns out a psych-pop record that sounds like they've been hanging out with The Antlers.
St. Vincent - Strange Mercy (4AD): You know her, she's that girl on the cover of SPIN.
The Drums - Portamento (Moshi Moshi/Island)
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Hysterical (self-released, duh): You know them, they're that band that started blogs.
Com Truise - Fairlight 12" (Ghostly International) (He may operate out of Princeton, NJ, but that's an arm's reach from NYC, right?)
Big Troubles - Romantic Comedy (Slumberland)
Prince Rama - Utopia = No Person 12" (Not Not Fun)
Twin Sister - In Heaven (Domino)
VHS or Beta - Diamonds and Death (Varese Sarabande)
Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Wolfroy Goes to Town (Drag City): Does Will Oldham still live in NYC? Can we pretend he does even if he doesn't?
EXITMUSIC - From Silence EP (Secretly Canadian): The word smoldering comes to mind, and I think you can see why after listening to a few seconds of the husband-wife's first proper release. It's heavy on the drama and romance.
Prince Rama - Trust Now (Paw Tracks)
Ryan Adams - Ashes & Fire (Pax-Am / Capitol): He's baaack, and might actually live in L.A. now. No matter, though, as he will forever be synonymous with the LES, and also alt-country.
Lana Del Rey - "Video Games" 7'' (Stranger Records): Have you been following along on the blogs these last few weeks? She's a big deal now.
Body Language - Social Studies EP (deluxe version) (Lavish Habits/OM Records): We like that "Tempoture" song quite a bit, see here?
Class Actress - Rapprocher (Carpark)
Forest Fire - Staring at the X (Paw Tracks): We've long considered these guys one of Brooklyn's most underrated; let's hope signing to Animal Collective's Paw Tracks label puts their kinda-creepy, kinda-druggy, kinda-pretty folk blend into the spotlight.
My Brightest Diamond - All Things Will Unwind (Asthmatic Kitty)
Psychic Ills - Hazed Dream (Sacred Bones)
Real Estate - Days (Domino): Hey, check it: You can't knock them for writing about the beach this time, and we've listened to single "It's Real" 1,000 times already. They're two for two.
Woodsman - Mystic Places (Fire Talk)
Lou Reed & Metallica - Lulu (TBD): This is a thing that's happening.
Oneohtrix Point Never - Replica (Software)
Zambri - Glossolalia EP (Kanine)
Crystal Stilts - Radiant Door 12" (Sacred Bones)
