Music Folk Singer and Guitarist Bert Jansch Dies at 67

An important figure in the the British folk revival of the 60s, Jansch was a founding member of Pentangle, but much of his best work came as a solo artist. He released 23 full-length albums over the course of his career, the most recent of which was 2006's The Black Swan. His style of play was strikingly complex and extremely innovative. A quote, from Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr sums it up nicely:
He completely re-invented guitar playing and set a standard that is still unequalled today... without Bert Jansch, rock music as it developed in the ‘60s and ‘70s would have been very different. You hear him in Nick Drake, Pete Townshend, Donovan, The Beatles, Jimmy Page and Neil Young. There are people playing guitar who don’t even realise they’ve been influenced by him one step removed.
Jansch was active even after he was diagnosed with cancer, touring with Neil Young earlier this year, and appearing with a reformed Pentangle back in August. He is survived by his wife, Loren Auerbach, and two sons, Kieron and Adam.
