Around 7pm on Monday night, a deliveryman driving a scooter along Leonard Street in Williamsburg came to a stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Meserole Avenue, only to be rear-ended when the driver of the 2002 Buick behind him failed to stop. The deliveryman was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries; the 29-year-old driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

The deceased 41-year-old was not immediately identified, the Daily News reports, nor was the drunk driver, who was in custody with charges pending on Monday evening after the accident.

This marks Williamsburg's first fatal crash involving a two-wheel vehicle since 24-year-old cyclist Nicolas Djandji was killed at the other end of Williamsburg in early September.
