Music Jeff Mangum Is Coming to Brooklyn... In January

The Mangum-itis is a-raging: Merge Records has just announced that the former frontman of Neutral Milk Hotel will be playing a show in Brooklyn, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Gilman Opera House, on Jan. 20. Are your fingers keyboard-ready? Tickets go on sale this Friday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.
The whole thing sort of feels like a Brooklyn coming out party, especially after Mangum played a secret show in Bushwick's Schoolhouse for a small crowd of 75 people in December of last year and skipped Brooklyn on this last, recent round of tour dates, hitting Manhattan's Town Hall instead. But come January, Mangum will be Brooklyn's at last. At last! This is all very exciting news, in addition to the fact that Mangum is extending his tour to Europe and won't just disappear from public sight quite yet.
It's probably a good idea to bookmark the Brooklyn Academy of Music site and set an alarm in iCal for this one.
