For those of us unable to get to Brazil within the next few hours, let's take his word for it on the setlist and have our own private concert, sorta. I fear that over the last few years, BSS' combusting manic-depressive pop has fallen out of the limelight in favor of bareboned, James Blake minimalism. And that's ok: I realize things have to change, trends and all that. But if nothing else, give "Stars and Sons" and "Ibi Dreams of Pavement" a revisit and notice how Drew and Co. swing from the most bedroom-incubated serenades to the most reaching-for-the-mountaintop anthems with ease and grace. And then watch Emily Haines, Feist and Amy Millan collaborate on "Anthems of a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl" for old time's sake.
"Stars and Sons"
"Anthems for a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl"
"Looks Just Like the Sun"
"Fire Eye'd Boy"
"Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day)"
"It's All Gonna Break"
"Forced to Love"
"Water in Hell"
"All to All"
Young Buffalo covering "Anthems" (quite well, actually, which has to be tough):
*Anyone have a clue to what song "Fuzz" in Kevin's tweet alludes to? Some weird B-side I don't know about?
