Indie Rock is a Dangerous Business: Watch Guided By Voices Bassist Fall Down While Performing on Letterman

Posted by Mike Conklin on Wed, Jan 4, 2012 at 10:18 AM

This could have happened to anyone, of course—that floor looks slippery after all, and I suppose any good rock move will cause you to lose your balance from time to time, but let's be honest here: when Guided By Voices bassist Greg Demos had his feet fly out from under him during a televised performance of "The Unsinkable Fats Domino" from the band's freshly released album, Let's Go Eat the Factory, well, he didn't make it any easier for those of who like to argue in favor of indie rock's old guard. And no, the vest didn't help. Or the pants. But awkwardly exclaiming "I fell on my ass!" while shaking Letterman's hand at the end? That helped a lot. The whole clip is only two and a half minutes long, so watch the whole thing, will you? (But the fall is at the 35-second mark, for all you jerks.)
