With heavy hearts, earlier this week we posted news of the death of Esme Barrera, a Girls Rock Camp Austin counselor who was murdered in her home this past New Year's Eve. Since, there has been an outpouring of grief and memories shared, not only from Austin, but from cities, bands and music communities across the country. Permanent Wave, the feminist arts and activist collective, will be holding a benefit show for Esme Barrera Jan. 12 at the Big Snow Buffalo Lodge in Bushwick. So far, the lineup includes Kelli Scarr, Golden Ghost, Jo Schornikow and Shannon Barnett (The Shivers), and all proceeds go to the online fund to help Barrera's family with funeral expenses. For more information about the benefit, head here.
