News Watch What Happens to a Bike Locked on a New York City Street for a Year

We've all seen them: the decomposing, picked over, deflated and disheveled bicycles that are abandoned at their rack or signpost, left to be worn down by harsh weather and pulled limb from limb by thieves. It's a process so pervasive it almost seems organic. How long does it take for a New York City bicycle left to its own devices on a busy street to disappear completely? Well, judging by a video assembled by brand strategists Red Peak by taking one photo every day last year of a bike rack in Soho where they'd locked a fully loaded bicycle, about 270 days.
