Prospect Park (Great Lawn)

There are plenty of places to picnic in Brooklyn's biggest park, but it's Great Lawn is thought to be the largest stretch of continuous meadow of any park in the US. It also boasts the borough's largest Greenmarket every Saturday. Bring a frisbee, kite or badminton set to take advantage of it. If you can snag one in time, there are grills placed along the edges to fire up for a cookout.

Pros: Grills, and an open field for good sunning and people-watching.
Cons: It can be crowded, and a family that's been staking out that barbecue pit since 7am may just beat you to it.
Places to fill your basket nearby: Grab Specialty Foods (438 7th Ave), Bklyn Larder (228 Flatbush Ave), Blue Apron Foods (814 Union St.)
