Sunset Park

An easy bike or train ride away lies this immense park with fields, playgrounds, sand volleyball courts, a swimming pool, and a 9/11 living memorial, more recently added. Find a shady spot and be completely tucked away from the city for the day.

Pros: From the highest vista, you can see views of Manhattan, New Jersey, Staten Island, and the Statue of Liberty, especially charming during sunset
Cons: It's easy to get lost and lose your party in this thick urban garden

Places nearby to fill your basket: Puebla Mini Market (3908), Ines Bakery (948 4th Ave), El Tenampa Deli Grocery (706 4th Ave.)
