It's a big day for shoe-gazing/electro-leaning Baltimore quintet Lower Dens, as they release their sophomore album, Nootropics, along with a Pitchfork TV-produced video for the song "Propagation." I don't know what exactly it means that Pitchfork TV produced it, and the press release (which came an hour after Pitchfork posted the video, naturally) doesn't even mention it. The album was reviewed in the lead spot on Pitchfork today too, and if you were worried that there's some sort of conflict of interest happening, well, I guess don't be. It got an 8.2, but not Best New Music. Regardless, the video's pretty great, as is the record. The band plays a sold out show tonight at the Mercury Lounge.
