New Farmer's Markets Coming to Greenpoint and Williamsburg

In January, Greenpoint residents began petitioning for a farmer's market of their own, and now their calls have finally been answered: Community Markets, which manages farmer's markets, will open one in McGolrick Park (aka Winthrop Park) on Sunday, June 3, the blog Greenpointers reports. The green market will return Sundays through November, from 11am-4pm. "We are confirming vendors," petition-starter Nicole Reed told the blog, "and so far we’re lining up a wide variety of local produce, cheeses, meats, pickles, honey, breads and baked goods. The vendors will set up along the Russell Street sidewalk, with ample space for everybody, between Driggs and Nassau avenues."

And because North Brooklyn so totally loves farmer's markets, a third will open in Williamsburg in Cooper Park, also on Sundays starting June 3 through November, on the Maspeth Avenue side. (There are also markets in McCarren Park and on Havemeyer Street.) Hooray for fresh food!
