
“When we were in Newfoundland, the idea that I came up with at breakfast was, ‘Let’s play one note today’…I told Meg as we were getting out of the car. I said, ‘Make sure you grab your cymbal — when you hit the cymbal, grab it so that the note only lasts a millisecond.’ I was thinking that afterwards we could contact the Guinness World Records people and see if we could get the record for shortest concert of all time. So we did it, but ultimately they turned us down.”

Largest Kazoo Ensemble
“On March 14, 2011, an audience of 5,190 classical music fans at the "Big Red Nose Show" held in the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK, formed a kazoo ensemble as part of Red Nose Day. Accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra and led by comedienne Sue Perkins, the ensemble hummed-out renditions of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyres and Eric Coates' Dambusters March. The event was hosted by BBC Radio 3's Katie Derham and Basil Brush.”

Modeled on a 1967 Gibson Flying V and built to a scale of 1:12, it was made by students from Conroe Independent School District Academy of Science and Technology, Conroe, Texas, USA at a cost of US$3,000 (£1,975). With construction beginning in October 1999, the instrument was finally played at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on June 6, 2000 with the opening chord of “A Hard Day’s Night.”
