Remember about a month ago, when a woman was groped in South Slope, some neighbors chased down the suspect, called the cops, and cops let the guy go? And someone leaked the information about what happened to the media, and there was a shitstorm, and the cops in question got put on modified duty? Well, one of the helpful neighbor/witnesses who has been outspoken in his criticism of the NYPD is claiming the cops trumped up charges and threw him in jail in retaliation:

On June 13, two officers from the same precinct knocked on the door of Harington’s 16th Street home.

“I heard them say my name — so I thought they were following up on the assault case,” he said.

But instead, he claims the officers slammed him against a car, threw his cellphone on the ground, and tossed him in jail overnight on charges of criminal mischief for purportedly leaving a nine-inch scratch on a neighbor’s car. [Brooklyn Paper]

Yeesh. If this guy is for real, this is messed up, even by NYPD standards. "Snitches get stitches" is supposed to apply to people snitching TO the police, not ABOUT them.
