152 Seventh Ave, at 19th street

Nearest subway: 18th Street 1 train
Nearby galleries: Postmasters, The Kitchen, David Zwirner

Pros: New York Mag claims that this is the oldest family-run bar in the city, and the decor hasn’t changed much since the McManus family began running it in the 1930s. It's a Chelsea gem.

It doesn't seem to have a happy hour, but theirs are pub prices; you can get a deli sandwich for $6.25.

Cons: Watch the assholes. The proximity to Madison Square Garden means you’ll be swarmed on game nights.
