For this week's edition of
"5 Favorite Things," we checked in with
Washed Out's principal player Ernest Greene while he and his band were en route to shower Brooklyn with their prettily overexposed synth-pop from the top of a
summer-stacked bill at House of Vans last week.
The goal here, if you recall, is to find out what five favorite odds and ends have been helping the band in question cope with being on the road. A new song they've heard on the radio, a restaurant they've eaten at while on tour, a favorite t-shirt, a particularly twisted episode of Breaking Bad—it's all fair game.
Let's hope that Ernest's mention of making music on an iPad app means there's an album on the horizon once he gets home to Georgia, yes?
1. Good Headphones
For blocking out the chaos of being in a van with six other people.
2. NanoStudio
An iPad app for making music on the go.
3. Cinemagram
A .gif-making app for iPhone. Really great for documenting strange things I encounter on tour.
4. Yelp
Most-used app on tour. Great for finding good, cheap restaurants or fun things to do in random cities.
5. Spotify
I have a paying account so I can stream music on the go; am constantly making playlists for DJ gigs I do on occasion.
