In today's edition of "5 Favorite Things," that recurring feature where we check in with bands en route to New York and ask what five things are helping them cope with life on the road, Lavender Diamond's Becky Stark renews her trademark winsome charm, concentrating on earthy elements rather than comforts from home. We bet she's really good at yoga too. The L.A.-based quartet's second proper album, Incorruptible Heart, comes from a similar place, waltzing through a field of country, folk and pop, surrendering to whatever emotion is at hand—weather it be melancholy ("Just Passing By") or hope ("There's Perfect Love for Me"). Listening to it here is the equivalent of a spiritual cleanse.

Once referred to by the Times as a "North American songbird," Stark leads the band to Glasslands on Saturday night (for those who missed them at Mercury Lounge yesterday), while birds fly above her head and squirrels play at her feet.

1. The Wind

Well I guess this includes my breath—and everyone's breath for that matter. When I start to feel strange, I just think about how everything is breathing and it makes me laugh. Also, whenever I feel the wind on my face, it makes me feel in love with the world again, instantly.

2. The Sun

I am so in love with the sun. I like to think about how all the life on the planet is nourished by the sun and especially about how the electromagnetic field of the earth protects the earth from the sun. But my favorite solar mystery is how the same energy that makes up the sun itself is what makes up the field that protects the earth from it. That is mysterious!

3. The Ocean

The roaring waves of the ocean pulled by the moon! This never ceases to amaze me. And the sand at the shore. The ocean and its waves are of the most tremendous beauty. Did you know that they think that the oceans were formed after it rained for 15 million years straight? Why was it raining for so long? I think about that if I feel sad̵ millions and millions of years of rain made the oceans.

4. Flowers

What is more beautiful than a delicate flower? When I see the vibrant color or smell the sweetness of a rose, it makes me happy and glad to be one of the creatures of the earth, living amongst all the other forms of life.

5. Water

I am so thankful for delicious water to drink. There is nothing more delicious and nourishing to me than a glass of wonderful water. Especially while I'm traveling and if I ever feel not well, I'll drink more water. It is my favorite medicine. Earth water: It's the #1 water in the galaxy!
