Do you remember how old you were when you first heard her music?
Andrew: I was about 15 or 15. I guess that was high school, yeah.
Chris: Pretty much the same.
Jane: I want to say 26. Not in high school.
Were you immediate fans, or did it take you some time to warm up to her?
Andrew: I mean, ["Criminal"] was a good song. I liked it immediately. I probably wasn't a fan though until I finally listened to the whole album maybe a year later.
Chris: I took me some time. It was only really very recently that I started getting into her with the new album.
Do you guys remember when the video for "Criminal" came out?
Andrew: Oh, yeah. I just saw it again. That director is awesome.
Chris: Yeah, definitely [laughs].
Would you say that was an immediate draw for you?
Andrew: It was awesome.
I remember some girls having a different reaction.
Andrew: Sure. It was a little like, she was too thin. I didn't like that part of it.
Along that same vein, there was that famous VMA speech. Do you guys remember that?
Andrew: Yeah, of course.
Did seeing that change your opinion of her at all?
Chris: It definitely made me like her more.
