Do you remember how old you were when you first started listening to her music?
It was the summer of 2000. It was the second CD I ever bought—the first was Return of Saturn by No Doubt. I got them at Target. It was When the Pawn... I should know all 90 words, but I don't.
What made you want to buy the CD? Did you hear her on the radio or MTV?
I saw the video for "Paper Bag." It was either on VH1 or MTV.
Do you consider yourself a pretty big fan of hers?
Yeah. One of my top three favorite all-time musicians.
Is this the first time seeing her live?
No. I saw her last night and then March 23 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. I spent a lot of money on [tickets].
What is it about her that you love so much?
In general I mostly listen to female musicians and solo artists I guess. The lyrics and, god, I don't know. She's kind of like this really feminist, man-hating... I like that. Besides that, the lyrics are really powerful, especially on Extraordinary Machine. I listen to that album more than any of the other ones.
