Keep Calm and Scary On: Brooklyn Halloweens In Spite of the Storm

Chris Christie might be signing an executive order to postpone Halloween, but in Brooklyn, some people have hauled the Halloween decorations back out and are going ahead with it in spite of everything. In inland Brooklyn, where the primary aftermath of Sandy has been downed trees and concern for neighbors in harder-hit areas (and now, reduced voltage), people with cooped-up, banned-from-city-parks, home-from-school kids are doing Halloween stuff today. Obviously, trick-or-treating will be neighborhood by neighborhood, but here is the status of some of the more organized activities:

*Park Slope Halloween Parade: cancelled, not to be rescheduled.

*Cobble Hill Halloween Parade: still on, starts at 4.

*Prospect Park South Parade: cancelled.

*West Midwood Parade: still on, starting at 4.

*Williamsburg Witches Walk: still on.

Last three confirmations via Mommy Poppins, who has many other activities that are still happening today if you have a kiddo with a costume who needs some place to go. Or just need to get them the hell out of the house. Either way!
