Anyway, aside from the usual musings about her endless breakup-inspired songs, Susan Dominus hit Taylor Swift with the exact same question that crossed just about everyone's mind when her latest video came out. Namely: "In your video for 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,' you are wearing big, heavy glasses and there are a bunch of guys in animal costumes. What is that about?"
Swift came back with the following chestnut about the "randomness" of all things indie:
"You know when you watch an indie video and you’re like: 'Why are they underwater in upside- down chairs with a random projection of a butterfly interspersed? Why is this happening?” [Ed note: this sounds actually reminds us of Crazytown more than anything, but ok.] We were trying to think of ways that we could tip our hat to the randomness of some indie music videos. Why are there woodland creatures? Nobody knows. Why am I wearing floral-print pajamas? Nobody knows. Why am I randomly wearing glasses? Nobody knows."
Why indeed. While this does make us worry about her "cool-kid anxiety" levels, this could actually be an interesting direction for her. Specifically, if, say, Swift decides to go dark and model her next video off the sad, strung out, possibly even "random" clip Beach House just put out for "Wild," we're ready to get weird along with her. Just a friendly, creepy suggestion Taylor!
