- The East Coast debut of Brian Eno's 77 Million Paintings audio-visual installation.
- A DFA Records 12th anniversary show on May 25th at the Grand Prospect Hall in South Brooklyn, headlined by James Murphy, that promises to last 9 hours and feature performers who've never ever played the United States.
- NYC hip-hop legends Afrika Bambaataa anchoring a massive hip-hop show, showcasing regional bass styles. Also, a separate, not yet fully specified Erykah Badu appearance.
- A drone battle featuring one of those robed dudes from Sun O))), Kim Gordon, and Prurient, among others.
Lastly, and this one really piqued my interest, the "First Ever Live DJ Set" by the Italo-disco's iconic Italo, Giorgio Moroder! How can it be possible that a guy this vital to dance music history has never DJed? Too busy inventing the sound of the future, and just printing money with classic Donna Summer singles to ever show his mustache in public? That's pretty cool.
As Red Bull was not yet invented in 1979, this Moroder-produced Sparks hit, "Number 1 Song in Heaven", was clearly created with only naturally occurring human energy, and not a toppling mountain of cocaine. Enjoy the video below:
