: So let me get this straight: Tyler Perry movies do not get screened for critics, ever. But Tyler Perry-presented movies do?! Good for the farm team, I guess, led by writer-director (and Drumline
screenwriter!) Tina Gordon Chism, and good for Craig Robinson and Kerry Washington, who at least can just remake Meet the Parents
rather than going through the Perry melodrama wringer just to get a leading role in a national release. It's too bad the movie doesn't look remotely funny, though I wish I had known it was screening; I would've given it a shot. Also, David Alan Grier is just barely old enough to be playing Kerry Washington's father; he would've had to have her right out of college, which seems a little odd for the upper-crust character he's playing here (maybe that's a dramatic third-act revelation). Though to be fair, Grier is a solid 10 years older than I thought he was.
