A sad update from the already terrible story of a cyclist killed in an apparent hit-and-run under the BQE early Monday morning, as Greepointers reports that the victim was 32-year-old Christopher Meyer, an avid cyclist and longtime local record store fixture, first at Sound Fix and more recently at Permanent Records.

Meyer's friend Jeff Conklin wrote into the site, saying, "Christopher had an incredible sense of humor and had one of the warmest hearts I’ve ever come across. He was a music fanatic and on the rare occasion when we’d work together, the day would be spent nerding out about metal and having tons of laughs. Christopher radiated compassion and love and everybody who came into contact with him was met with a smile."

Reportedly, Meyers was struck around 3:30am Monday morning near Meeker Ave and Frost Street, and investigators have footage "showing a cyclist riding directly underneath the BQE before hitting a curb and falling into the northbound lane," according to Gothamist, which spoke with Harry Rosenblum of nearby Brooklyn Kitchen. For now, we know that Meyers will be sorely missed, and a significant loss to the local music community. A funeral service is planned for Friday at 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at the Marinello Funeral Home in Coram, NY.
