Heart in the Streets: Brooklyn's 15 Most Romantic Pieces of Street Art

HeartInTheStreets-mag.jpg
With Valentine's Day upon us, I set out Sunday to find Brooklyn's most romantic pieces of street art. I came across these bright cartoon hearts (by street artist Chris Uphues) all over North Brooklyn. This especially flirty one is on Vandervoort Place, right behind Factory Fresh in Bushwick.

An embracing couple by Dodieboy, reclining on a basement entrance on Hope Street between Havemeyer and Roebling in Williamsburg.

HeartInTheStreets-2.jpg

Another couple reclining, less suggestively, on Paidge Avenue near McGuinness Boulevard in Greenpoint.

This sexy Lambros stencil is steaming up India Street steps from the East River Ferry's Greenpoint stop.

HeartInTheStreets-4.jpg

Another public display of affection, by Faile, on North 15th Street near Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg.

HeartInTheStreets-5.jpg

I can't read this impressive wild style piece on Newell Street near Calyer Street in Greenpoint, but it sure has a lot of hearts.

As you'd expect, these bleeding heart bunnies by Adam Dare have been multiplying quickly, brightening countless Williamsburg walls with their sweet sentiment. These two are on North 7th Street near Bedford Avenue.

HeartInTheStreets-7.jpg

Though not specifically romantic, this color-drenched topless man sure is sexy. And those unicorns! They're sexing it up on Waterbury Street near Meserole Street in Bushwick.

HeartInTheStreets-8.jpg

Wouldn't be Valentine's Day without flowers, right? This lovely plant by Elbow Toe is on Smith Street between Creamer and Bay streets in Red Hook.

HeartInTheStreets-9.jpg

A cute pair of posters by Ryan V. Brennan across the street from 3rd Ward, at Morgan Avenue and Stagg Street suggest you get to know someone.

HeartInTheStreets-10.jpg

Heartbreak (and S&M) on Spencer Street in Bed-Stuy.

HeartInTheStreets-11.jpg

A loving OverUnder piece on Flushing Avenue near Walworth Street in South Williamsburg.

HeartInTheStreets-12.jpg

This Mint&Serf and Curtis Kulig/Love Me piece is steps from the gate to the Commandant's House at Plymouth and Evans streets in Vinegar Hill, where we suggested you go on one of our Brooklyn Dates.

HeartInTheStreets-13.jpg

This adorable kiss by BAST is being shared on North 8th Street between Driggs Avenue and Roebling Street in Williamsburg.

A sweet ending to our Brooklyn street art Valentine's with this piece on Water Street near Dock Street in Dumbo, right across from St. Ann's Warehouse.

(Special thanks to research assistant Patrick Waldo for correctly identifying unattributed works.)
