Silk work (which involves hanging from and entwining oneself in long pieces of silk) is sensual and graceful—or so it seems when you’re watching a pro do it. So if it’s your first time, prepare for graceless half inverts and climbing a mere ten inches up your fabric before gravity takes over. Still it’s pretty addictive and seeing more experienced students do amazing feats is ample motivation. You probably won’t feel like you’ve had an intense workout after the first class, but the more you show up, the more you will engage your muscles and increase your burn. Don’t be discouraged: one student said it only took three classes to have her first aha! moment. Working with silks is great for your arms, core and alignment. The class size is capped at eight students, and the group is very newbie friendly.
