2nd Avenue Deli

162 E 33rd St., at Third Ave
Midtown East
New York, NY 10016
For those with a special place in their heart (so long as that heart has good cholesterol) for Jewish Delis and meaty, salty food, The upscale diner-style 2nd Avenue Deli is worth paying a visit to satisfy a craving for a hot pastrami and tongue sandwich on rye. Start out with pickles, gribenes, and crisp fried nibbles of chicken skin topped with fried onions, then move onto the big ticket items. The motzah balls in the soup are fluffy and the corn beef spares no delicious fat. But for the best dining experience, avoid the pre-made potato latke and spinach knish.
